SPECIALIZED TELECOMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

What is STAP?

STAP stands for Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program. This program provides vouchers to people with disabilities that can be used to purchase special telephones and telephone equipment, such as amplified telephones for those that are hard of hearing, or a voice dialer for those that are mobility or visually impaired. There are many different devices available for a wide range of disabilities.

YOUR STAP OUTREACH SPECIALIST

Your STAP Outreach Specialist is very knowledgeable about all kinds of different equipment available through STAP, and helps people with disabilities to find the best solution for their communication needs. Then, the Specialist can assist with the process of filling out the application (including certifying it). Once a person receives their voucher, the Specialist can help find a vendor that has the specific device that person desires. Your STAP Specialist also gives presentations to groups of people and attends events such as local health fairs to spread the word about STAP and help people to apply. On the next panels, you will find a list of devices available through STAP. If you or anyone you know could benefit from one or more of these items, please contact your STAP Outreach Specialist today!
